Hello welcome,
Now I am sure you would want to know how my birthday went. Well, interestingly, my day began on a very sunny note and ended with raindrops of blessings. I’d set out to host perhaps the first of its kind online conference chat with a great discussion in mind, but that was not to be. Either folks were having a problem hooking up to my Conference ID or perhaps the timing wasn’t quite right. Never mind, that’s just a little problem. I have decided to reschedule it for some other time. More details later and of course, better planning.
Howbeit, every disappointment, they say, is a blessing. That’s exactly how it turned out for me. The disappointment of not having the conference hold gave me ample time to do what I know how best to do – solve people’s problems. I spent the whole day helping a large number of prospective students of the University of Port Harcourt process their applications online. It was hectic, stressful, and not the ‘ideal’ way of celebrating a birthday, but with every smile from someone whose problem had been solved, I was motivated to make it a phenomenal way of marking my day. Indeed, it was worth the while.
Let me at this juncture thank everyone who sent me a message, called or even voted to wish me Happy Birthday. I just kept receiving loads and loads of blessings, my phone could just not stop ringing. It is said that “He that waters shall himself be watered”. So shall it be unto you. I would like to share a couple of the blessings I got. I am sure you’ll appreciate that.
1) “Happy Birthday. This is my desire for you, that you’ll find what defines you, the reason why you were wonderfully and complexly formed in this new year – Blossom”. My long lost friend, all the way from Abuja.
2) “As you are a year older today, may this mark a distinct turning point in every area of your life, receiving grace to move from strength to strength with divine speed; Happy Birthday – Bari from UNIBEN”
3) “This is the start of greater joys for you, more honours, more achievements and happy dreams come true May God grant you excellency in all u do. Happy Birthday. Philip – UNIBEN”
4) “Life is like a book, with many pages, each day is a new page, may yours be filled with good stories and wonderful pictures. Above all, I wish you success and hapiness in all you do” – Karyn (Zenith Bank)
5) And from GT Bank came: “Dear Ekpo, as you celebrate your birthday on this special day, GTBank wishes you a world of hapiness and sweet surprises. Have a smashing birthday!” Now, why won’t I continue banking with these guys? This is good customer service.
6) “My day started very early as usual and there was this emptiness around me. Then I remembered I haven’t said Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday, my friend.” Now, that’s my friend, Uwem, he’s a great man.
7) “Candle melts and its fire dies, but the glory of God upon your life will stay aglow forever and the candle of uncommon favour will never melt out of your life. Happy Birthday, Noble Son.” That’s my Noble Daddy Ajao, all the way from Warri. God! You remembered, wow. Thanks.
“Greatness you desire, Greatness you’ve achieved. Just want to say Happy Birthday – Nimi”. Hmmm, isn’t that just beautiful.
9) “Beloved, great is God’s mercy towards you, I specially welcome you into your best-ever lived year. I must say you are a man of great potentials. Happy Birthday – Elaolem”. Thanks a million.
10) “May your birthday be a day of favour. As you celebrate this in the 3rd month, may the Trinity be involved fully in your life to bring fulfillment and above all, peace that passes all understanding in the remaining days of your life” – Chinemerem. Now, that’s probably the longest I got. Thanks dear.
11) God will edify, identify, justify, modify, beautify, santify, purify, glorify, magnify, dignify, satisfy & fortify you in everyday of your life. Happy Birthday” – Amadi. Wow, my friend Amadi, u wan finish dictionary for my head? May God reward(fy) you o.
12) “Hello Ekpo, happy birthday. Chop remain my share-o. Be assured that your latter will be greater than your past. You are blessed. Cheers!!! – Enobong”. Na wa to you o, na only chop you sabi. Hahahaha
Some more? I don almost tire sef. Anyway, a few more:
13) O boy, oyibo talk say “it is better to be late than never”. So happy birthday to you as I wish you all the best from God. Take kia boy and enjoy your remaining days – Ifeanyi”. Actually, that’s my Oga. Thank you Sir.
14) As today draws to a close, heaven is releasing its package for you. You are destined for greatness. May all your dreams for this new year come true. Happy Birthday – Salome”. Amen oooo.
15) “God told me in this life, He will be your Messiah, make you hot like fire, give you all your heart desire, make all your enemies tire & retire from troubling you. Happy Birthday – Grace”. Now, this one should win an award. Infact, I am copywrighting it so people like Tuface, Timaya, Dbanj etc etc no go use am for their lyrics o. Thanks a million, Gracey.
And finally, from my parents (of course they couldn’t be left out) came this beautiful one: “Happy Birthday to you Sir. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and give you peace. Dad & Mum”. Simple but LOADED from the best parents in the world. Thanks a million.
Phew!!! Isn’t that just wonderful. I also got lots and lots of emails, offline messages and Facebook messages from friends all over the world that I can’t put up here. However, thanks a lot pals, I am really grateful and do pray that your day will be far better than mine.
My greatest thanks to God Almighty, the One in whom I live, and move and have my being; to Jesus Christ, my Redeemer, Saviour and Friend and to the Holy Spirit, my constant guide. Here’s His promise to me and to everyone of us, as written in JER 29:11; “For I KNOW THE THOUGHTS that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
