I recently listened to a wonderful message from a great man. His name, Bishop David Oyedepo, and I put together this writeup from the great words of wisdom that flowed out of his mouth every second. Here’s what Oyedepo says about Possibility Mentality:

Possibility Mentality is the master key for doing the impossible

Everything in your hand today began in your mind yesterday

Therefore, whatever is too big for your mind is too big for your hand; in other words,

Whatever you cannot imagine, you can never deliver

In fact,

It is your imagination that sets the pace for your destination; It is your mental picture that defines your actual future.

Like the Holy Scriptures puts it in Proverbs 23:7, “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”.

Having a Possibility Mentality is the key to a world of unlimited possibilities. You can unlock your innermost potentials if you dare to think that it is possible. Any problem you face today is not a problem in itself; it is in your mentality. Your Possibility Thinking is what makes you do the impossible. Possibility Mentality is the cure for doubts.

What you know determines how you think, and how you think determines how you live and how you live determines what you become

So my friend, the question you should ask yourself is this: “What’s your exposure, knowledge and insight level?

Quality information renews your mind so as to transform your life. Until your mind is renewed or your mentality is re-engineered, you cannot experience a change in position. That is why, if you want to improve a man’s life, you must first of all affect his thinking pattern.

Until you affect a man’s thinking pattern, you cannot affect the quality of his lifestyle

On May 25, 1961, United States President, John F. Kennedy gave a Special Address to the US Congress on “The Importance of Space”. In speech is popularly called “Man on the Moon” Address: JFK said:

Space is open to us now; and our eagerness to share its meaning is not governed by the efforts of others. We go into space because whatever mankind must undertake, free men must fully share.

I therefore ask the Congress, above and beyond the increases I have earlier requested for space activities, to provide the funds which are needed to meet the following national goals:

First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind, or more important for the long-range exploration of space; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish

JF Kennedy challenged Americans’ thinking and 8 years later, they achieved the impossible.

It is what you know that has power to influence how you think and which transforms your lifestyle. In other words, Information influences your thought-life so as you transform your real-life.The larger your information bank, the more elastic your possibility mentality becomes.

You need to understand this: There will be many obstacles on your way to fulfilling destiny that must be crushed before destiny is fulfilled. Destiny is at the mercy of Possibility Mentality. Indeed, Possibility Mentality is a requirement for the actualisation of your royalty in the race of life.

The Price of Possibility Mentality is EXPOSURE; Exposure enlarges the coast of our Possibility Mentality.

To be exposed is to excel, and to be inexposed is to be deposed

Without a Positive-Driven Mind, your world will never mind you

Some persons are of the opinion that those who think positively all the time were born with it. They say “Leave him, that how he thinks; he was born like that”. Nah, my friend, for Possibility Mentality is not a gift or talent; it’s what you conciously cultivate through the channels of exposure; information that is work, knowledge you have applied yourself to and discoveries you have embraced. What you need to do is to invest in building/enlarging your Possibility Mentality through Exploratory Inquiry, particularly looking at the lives of men who have accomoplished in your area of interest.

You cannot possess a Poverty Mentality and command plenty

That is IMPOSSIBLE. Your Mentality is what defines the limits of your destiny. People that are given to Possibility Mentality become natural instruments of exploits. “I can do all things” ..Phillipians 4:13

We begin our journey from the very beginning. Remember the soil on which we said problems thrive – Your Mind. Yes, that is where it all begins. Have you ever pondered or wondered what exactly your mind is? Is it a physical aspect of you or something abstract. Is it like an inner YOU that seems to control you or is it being controlled by you?

Well, the mind could be defined as aspects of intellect and a consciousness manifested as combinations of thought, perception, memory, emotion, will and imagination, including all of the brain’s conscious and unconscious cognitive processes. Simply put, the mind is the seat of the faculty of reason, which is responsible for one’s thoughts and feelings; and believe me, your thoughts and the way you feel, more often than not, determine your actions and reactions to people, situations, circumstances, problems, challenges etc. Therefore, anything that is capable of determining the state of your mind should be seriously taken into consideration. Infact, the most important of all battles you must ensure you win is the battle of the mind.

Indeed, your mind is the real battlefield between problems versus solutions, evil vs good, negativity vs positivity, sickness vs health, sorrow vs joy, fear vs faith, war vs peace. It all begins in the mind of men and in the final analysis, whether you believe this or not, it is the one you yield to that you receive and see manifest in your life. See friend, if you choose to build a tent and dwell your thoughts on the problems you are facing and decide to constantly brood over them, instead of dwelling on how to get them solved, then your life will definitely be full of problems. It’s that dead simple. When we dwell on problems, here’s actually what we are doing – tending and watering the soil on which that tiny seed of problem was planted, and there are no two ways about it, it will surely grow. Most human problems are what they really are, mind problems that need mind solutions.

“Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind.”

So, let’s do a simple self-check. Are you currently facing daunting challenges in your life, academics, family, workplace, business etc? Of course, we all are, in one way or the other. Now, be sincere to yourself; does your thought pattern reflect that you are dwelling on and watering that tiny seed of the problem. Do your feelings run haywire because of the challenges life throws at you every blessed day? Do you desire a change? If your answer is YES, here’s what you need to do. I need you to SHOUT this out, let that problem hear it – “You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.”. It’s time to CHANGE YOUR MINDSET. It’s time to win the battle of the mind.
